February 21st marks the day that Baseball lost a rising star, and that we all lost a friend, mentor and inspiring young talent.
Our hearts were all crushed hearing the news that Ashley Anderson tragically passed away after being involved in a car accident.
Ash spent a number of years with Beenleigh Hawks and was beloved by everyone that had ever had the pleasure of being in his company. This was before moving to Surfers Paradise Baseball Club as a U14 and progressing through various pathways with Baseball Queensland, before being selected in the National Training Squad. It’s an undeniable fact that Ash had the world at his feet and a bright and accomplished future ahead of him.
“Ash, you brightened the world with your beautiful big smile and such a humble and wonderful soul. Part of the world is missing and it’s hard to hold back the tears.”
From our Beenleigh Hawks family, we extend our sincerest condolences to Amber, Cliff, Leah and Jade, and thank them for raising the boy that we all grew to love, respect and learn from.
After hearing the news part way through their game, our Division 3 team played hard to get the win while prior to commencement of our Div 5 game, Redcliffe Padres joined us in a minute of silence in Ash’s honour.
Funeral Service for Ashleigh James Anderson
Ash’s Funeral will be held at the Beenleigh Showgrounds Exhibition Pavilion, Showgrounds South, 1-19 Showgrounds drive Beenleigh, on Tuesday 9th March commencing at 11 am.
We are honoured to host a gathering, celebrating the life of Ashley, at Beenleigh Hawks Baseball Club.

A gathering of Ashley’s family, close friends, and limited guests will be permitted inside the pavilion, while a large number of mourners can view the service at the baseball club, where they will be joined by Amber, Cliff, Leah and Jade, who will be respectfully honoured by your attendance.
Light refreshments will be served at the baseball club, and you are most welcome to byo, and share your wonderful memories of Ash.
Ashley’s family has asked that you wear something showing your connection to Ash, whether it be a sporting/club/state/school jersey or shirt, sunglasses etc, or anything that associated you to this wonderful young man. It is compulsory to wear a cheeky grin.
